McCleary v. State of Washington
In McCleary v. State, the Washington Supreme Court ruled that the State of Washington was not meeting its constitutional obligation to amply fund a uniform system of basic education. The Court retained jurisdiction to monitor the state legislature’s progress in fully funding a program of basic education by 2018.
Charter schools are public schools, so charter school students have the same positive constitutional right to an amply funded public education as other public schools students.
